


Another sawfly species that occurs in our yard, about 5 miles south of Port Angeles, WA, about 2,000 feet elevation.
This species has a large, blunt spine on the hind leg and fearsome jaws visible in 3 and 6. It also shows some variation in wing veination, for example the small triangles visible in this specimen.
The plants are a non-native grass (1), Western Yew, Taxus brevifolia (2, 3, 4) and Black Swamp Gooseberry, Ribes lacustre (5).
