Sawflies Abia americana
Trichosoma Tenthredo

Sawflies, traditionally grouped in the suborder Symphyta, constitute a diverse group. The larvae of many sawflies feed on foliage, and resemble caterpillars.

I photographed this species in our yard, about 5 miles south of Port Angeles, WA, about 2,000 feet elevation.
