These tiny psyllid bugs appeared on some willow buds in early March 2009 at the mouth of the Elwha River, in Washington State. Compare the shape of these true bugs (Order Hemiptera) with the largest true bugs, cicadas.
I think the willows are Hooker Willow, Salix hookeriana.
Pairs appeared to be mating, and I captured video of mating behaivor (6). The males elevate their wings as they sidle up to the female.
